Hello All,
Namine was home for a record of 16 days this time. Paul and I brought her in Wednesday night with a fever, loose stools and mega suctioning. They did a bunch of tests and pumped her full of fluids and she still had a slight fever.
Yesterday the doctors put her on isolation and are keeping her there until they can figure out what is going on.
Today when I came in I took her temp and it was 39.9C so for the rest of you that is 103.4F. Not good. They gave her some tylenol to see if that will help but she is just so uncomfortable that she won't even look at me. I kissed her on the cheek and she rolled her eyes at me and turned her head the other way.
I feel so bad that she is sick. Paul and I have a theory that the reason she keeps getting sick when we bring her home is because of the re-use of suction cathetors. I am going to talk to Dr. Gordon and see if he can make it so that we can get at least double what we are allowed so that this doesn't happen again.
I wanted you all to know about Namine and what is going on. We love and miss you all. Keep praying that everything goes well.
Love,
Jessica, Paul and Namine Eiche

Oh... my... GOSH. Poor adorable Namine :(
ReplyDeleteDid they tell you how to do clean suctioning when you were discharged the first time??? You use two litle containers (emptied out and washed baby food jars work well.) One with half hydrogen peroxide/sterile water for cleaning and the other one with all sterile water for running through the catheter/suction tube. It truly cleans them well. They say that 2 suction catheters should be used per day for normal suctioning and 3 catheters a day for "high maintenance" like Jacob and Namine! :) I'll e-mail you what I have saved, Jessica.
We are prayyyyyyyying for you three always.
Lots of love from Jen, Jeremy & Jacob
